Platforms
Strength floor
Four platforms, racks, and dumbbells to 50 kg. This is where 1-to-1 strength and the small-group strength classes run.
282 Somerset Street West
One room, 3,200 square feet, on a single level in Centretown. The floor is set for strength first, with enough conditioning equipment and mat space that a class and a 1-to-1 session can share the hour without stacking plates in the walkway.
Bodyinmotionlife is at 282 Somerset Street West, Ottawa, ON K2P 0J6. Lyon O-Train station is about a seven-minute walk: east along Somerset, or north from the Lyon platforms and then west. Several OC Transpo routes stop on or beside Somerset; the last stretch is level sidewalk.
Street parking is usually available on Percy Street, a short block from the door. There is a bike rack at the entrance. We do not have a private lot, and we do not validate parking. If you are driving in for a 06:00 session, Percy is the quieter option.
The entrance is step-free from the sidewalk. The front desk sits immediately inside so you are not hunting for a doorbell. Guests sign in there; members check in on the tablet or with the floor staff.

Four lifting platforms sit along the long wall, each with a rack, a bar and enough plates for a heavy lower-body day without borrowing from the next station. Dumbbells run to 50 kg. Kettlebells, a small bumper set for teaching, and a trap bar live on the same wall so a 1-to-1 session does not have to cross the room for a single accessory.
Conditioning is two rowers and two assault bikes, plus a 12 m turf lane for carries, crawls and short accelerations. The lane is marked so a class and a private session can share it by taking turns rather than crowding the same ten metres. When a return-to-run block needs indoor intervals, this is where they happen.
The mobility area is a mat grid with wall space for hip and thoracic work. It is the room we use for Mobility & Mat classes and for the cool-down at the end of a 1-to-1. Change rooms have showers, lockers and a step-free accessible washroom. Towels are provided for sessions; you bring shoes you will only wear on the floor.
The front desk holds the booking tablet, a small bench, and the clipboard with the day’s 1-to-1 list. Floor staff reset platforms between classes. If a piece of equipment is out, it is tagged; we do not run a class that depends on a machine that is in pieces.

Training shoes stay on the floor; street shoes stay in the change room or in a locker. Chalk is fine on the platforms; it is wiped between classes. Headphones are welcome in 1-to-1 sessions; in a class we ask that one ear stays free so a coach can still reach you.
Book a class or a 1-to-1 at least two hours ahead. Inside that window the slot is held for you, and a late cancel uses the credit. A guest visit is $28 when the class still has a place. Guests fill in a short health screen at the desk; if a question flags a recent injury, we will ask for practitioner clearance before they lift.
Children are welcome in the waiting bench area with an adult; the floor itself is for booked sessions. Photography of other members is not permitted. The coaching team will film a lift only with your agreement, and only for your program file.
The entrance from Somerset is step-free. There is an accessible washroom on the same level as the floor. Change rooms have showers and lockers; if you need a quieter change space, say so at the desk and we will time it around class changeovers. We cannot reconstruct the 1910s fabric of the block, but the studio build-out in 2026 was specified for a single-level path from door to platform.
If you use a support person, they are welcome at the assessment and at 1-to-1 sessions. For classes, tell us when you book so we can hold an extra mat without breaking the cap in a way that crowds the room.
